Just in time for the summer, The Wine Buyer found an outstanding Albarino from Spain loaded with fresh, lively flavors of citrus and melon. If you've never enjoyed an Albarino before, it's a terrific white for these bright, hot days with surprising body and richness, balanced by crisp acidity. Not to mention some of the best white wines in the world are found in this unique region, Rias Baixas which lies on Galicia’s west coast. While the vast majority of the wines are produced from local cooperatives, Serra da Estrela is uniquely an estate, and a benchmark producer for the region. Reminiscent of a Loire Valley Chenin Blanc, like a great Vouvray, these wines have a ton of personality and can only get more interesting with a little age. We loved this Albarino so much, we made a huge buy and are offering it for well below its original release price!
"Salted lemons, sliced apples and seashells extend to a medium-bodied palate with salty yet aromatic peach flavors. Briny, textured and pure. Close your eyes and this brings you right to the coast. Vegan. Delicious now." James Suckling, 92 Points
