Rioja is the crown jewel of Spanish reds, and a brand new label from winemaker Alberto Orte has just arrived at The Wine Buyer. We've featured a few Alberto Orte wines in the past from La Antigua and Compania de Vinos del Atlantico, but his "Real de la 8" comes with an unheard of $7.98 a bottle price! Tempranillo, Garnacha, Graciano and Viura sustainably grown from vines planted from 1978 in the hills and ridgelines above the valley of Rioja. The moderately warm days and cool nights lead the grapes to ripen slowly, resulting in wines that show brighter aromas and more delicate fruit flavors. An elegant and pure style, almost Pinot Noir like. Amazing for the price!
